Recent Update on Our Wonderful Regenerative Mezcal Project in Michoacán and Oaxaca

Day of the Dead, October 2024

I am pleased to share our experiences from the recent Day of the Dead activities as part of our wonderful regenerative mezcal project of Oaxaca and Michoacán. During our visit in October 2024, we had the delightful company of incredibly committed individuals dedicated to impactful projects. The energy and dedication they brought were truly inspiring.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that these days would be unforgettable. The vibrant Day of the Dead festivities created an atmosphere that was both culturally rich and deeply emotional. The air was filled with the scent of marigolds and the sounds of traditional music, generating an atmosphere that was both reverent and celebratory.
Reflecting on our journey, we feel immense gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a significant project. The results of our activities were incredibly exciting, and we are eager to share the stories and experiences from those days with you. Here are the latest updates.

To mezcal enthusiasts and collaborators, I must say:

Our Day of the Dead collaboratory in Morelia was fabulous! – connecting, learning, building & growing together – sipping exquisite mezcals – elevated by sharing about loved ones who’ve passed, together with Lori Darley, Larry Leon Dr. Andrew Greller, Faryl Greller & Oswaldo Alvarez.

Our trip included 2 blind tastings. The tasting in Tumbisca with 11 family mezcalero was especially memorable – remote, wild & deeply authentic connecting. Please check out & SHARE our community blog updates!!! TY Oswaldo Alvarez for his leadership & blog publishing! Please check out & share: https://www.mezcalfrommexico.net

Our diverse palletes confirmed buying a first batch from Opongio, a blend of 2 endemic varieties, offering a complex & herbal explosion of flavor without smokiness; aged one year in glass, ‘only’ 45% ABV. This small batch fulfills our brand promise: delicious, chemical free, nature positive, deforestation free, empowering indigenous family farms going carbon nuetral. In addition, seems like our cocktail tasting at Chango Restaurante is leading to our first event sales order for a February wedding! We just need a brand name …..

BRAND NAME: We’re sooooo close to birthing our brand name,😫🤬😱 Mary Jo’s reinvigorated leadership drawing from her 30+ years of marketing design, is leading us in navigating a sea of existing brands to secure US & Mexican trademarks, & URL. Stay tuned to Mary Jo who will continue conferring with our growing hive of cofounders, conspirators & collaborators.

Not So Fun Fact: There are more than 2000 active, inactive & informal mezcal brands. And somehow RegenerativeMezcal.com was available for me to grab! Yeah I know, it doesn’t quite work on a bottle of distilled spirits.

Following Day of the Dead, I went to Costa Rica last week to attend an impact investment conference, FLIICAC24, where I was invited by a couple friends to be considered as part of their US family office client’s $1 billion impact investment strategy for regenerative food systems in Mexico, Costa Rica & Panama!. While we could benefit from additional seed investors NOW, this is a new promising prospective capital partner to scale with!!!.

At FLIICAC24, I also met Raymundo representing 23 Oaxacan communities innovating regenerative mezcal & eager to further explore partnership that begins with a tasting this Thursday, Nov 14 in Mexico City!! Check out Raymundo’s cool catalog requiring a reboot as they have no current meaningful sales channels https://adobe.ly/48O3ZHV

AND, I’m super excited to welcome Christian Quiñonez Sol considering how best to partner us. We’ve tentatively scheduled convening a next mezcal sipping collaboratory visiting to the Monarch Butterfly Reserve, February 19-23 We’ll get to choose to be surrounded by 1 or 2 million monarch butterflies, an emmersive experience guaranteed to elevate the soul 🦋🦋🦋.

The State of our incipient Regenerative Mezcal Nation is STRONG, with joyous energy abound to co-create a thriving future with resilience to face radical unprecedented uncertainties in the world we love!

That’s my update. I’d welcome hearing from you!

With the hope of quickly achieving the best results in creating our brand, we are eager to begin the operation of our wonderful regenerative mezcal project. This project not only represents a significant step toward environmental sustainability but also strengthens our cultural and economic roots in the regions of Oaxaca and Michoacán.

Our commitment to regenerative practices and the production of high-quality mezcal reflects our dedication to preserving the heritage of this ancestral beverage. With the support of our partners, the community, and consumers, we are confident that we can build a brand that not only stands out for its excellence but also promotes environmental conservation.

We are excited about what the future holds and grateful for the opportunity to share this adventure with all of you. Together, we can make a significant difference, contributing to a more sustainable world and keeping our traditions alive.
